Origins
Alex and Lisa Green are the heart and vision behind the Harriet Tubman Freedom Center, carrying forward a mission rooted in love, education, and community. As lifelong educators and historians, they saw more than just the story of Harriet Tubman—they saw a living legacy that still has the power to inspire courage, resilience, and unity today.
With boundless dedication, they transformed that vision into a space where art, history, and storytelling converge to awaken the spirit of freedom in all who enter. Their work is a tribute to Tubman’s journey and a gift to future generations, a reminder that ordinary people, when guided by purpose and conviction, can create extraordinary change.
Through their leadership, the Greens have built more than a center; they’ve created a beacon of hope, healing, and empowerment on the very soil where Tubman’s story began.
